OKC Bombing Anniversary

Today is the 14th Anniversary of the OKC Murrah Building Bombing. These are some pictures I took last year when Joe and I walked right by the memorial (on the anniversary) during the American Heart Walk. Last year the day was a beautiful sunny day. This year during the walk, we didn't go right beside the memorial and it was cloudy and overcast. So enjoy the pictures from last year. This picture is entering the memorial.
This picture is looking through the memorial wall to the other side. The other side says 9:03, after the bomb had gone off. I love the reflecting pool.

This picture is looking back at the inside of the entrance. 9:01 is when the bomb went off.

This is looking up to the right after you enter the memorial to the "survivor tree" (the symbol of the memorial).
Looking to the left where the chairs are. The church in the background was used as a makeshift morgue.
This was written on the wall (near the survivor tree) by some of the rescuers.
A close-up of the survivor tree.
Looking across from the survivor tree over to the side where the chairs are. Some of the families were gathered around chairs of their family members.
Looking back up to the survivor tree. I think this is the shot that is used as the symbol for the OKC Bombing Memorial National Park.

Here's a close-up of the chairs. The bases light up at night and I think they light up on that person's birthday, or something like that.

The chairs are also lined up according to what floor they were on. There are also little chairs for the children that were killed in the daycare.
