Prayer Shawl Update

I started a prayer shawl last summer and then got busy this fall with tailgating.  Then I made several of the "ruffled" scarves during the Christmas season.  I feel like this shawl has taken FOREVER to make.  During this Lenten season, when we meet every week, I've been busy with my Disciple class, and I joined a circle, so I haven't spent as much time knitting as I usually do.  I finally finished this shawl last week and will turn it in tomorrow night.

Our group will have our spring "Tea" next weekend and this year we are going to have a teacup exchange.  I scoured some of the antique malls around Norman and found this one last weekend (for half price).  I liked it so I purchased it.

I also found this 50's hamburger press.  I don't remember who had one in our family -- if it was Aunt Reba, or Granny, or Mama but I had to buy it.  I have roosters in my kitchen and it brought back good memories (it was in perfect shape too).

Weight Watchers

I've been trying really hard the past few weeks to make some headway on my weight.  I've been working out 5-6 days a week doing Zumba, Zumba gold, walking, working with weights, lots of abs work, and tracking everything by its WW points value.  This morning I made a new recipe I found on Pinterest.  I entered it into the recipe builder on WW and found out it's 6 points plus.  It's baked oatmeal and it's VERY good.  Joe and the girls liked it too.  If you eat it right out of the oven it has more of an oatmeal feel to it, but if you wait and let it set up, you can put it in the refrigerator then cut pieces during the week and put it in the microwave to warm it up and it's more like a "bar".  It has bananas, blueberries, organic rolled oats, lite vanilla soy milk, cinnamon, egg and chopped walnuts.  It's diabetic-friendly too, so Joe can eat it also.

This picture was made last week, but I've dropped 3 more pounds since then.  I've reached my 10% goal (meaning I've dropped 16 pounds since I started 2-1/2 years ago). I'm always going to have my "hips" and probably my belly fat but I sure feel a lot better.

More Crown's Tea Pictures

For some reason when I transferred these two pictures from my iPad they didn't come across as cropped, even though they are cropped on my iPad.  Anyway, this is my "portrait" from the Crowns Tea, a couple of weeks ago.  I went to the library and they printed off a very nice black and white portrait for me to keep, which I have in a frame on my hearth.  This one I downloaded from the site.

Here's a candid group shot of the group of ladies I went with.  We had a great time.

Miranda Lambert & Dierks Bentley Concert

Friday night, Joe and I had a date and went to dinner then a concert at his building.  Here's the NBA team logo on the floor of the grand entrance.

Waiting for the concert to start.

We were sitting 10 rows up from the floor on the side of the stage.  We had good seats!

Our cowboy boots. Joe got new square-toed, ostrich leather ones.  Strangely, my foot looks bigger than his. HA!

Crowns Tea

I went to my first Crowns Tea at the Norman Public Library this afternoon.  LOVED IT!  It's part of the Black History Month where they celebrate black women and their church hats.  A friend of mine from church has gone the last 3-4 years and she invited me to come with her today.  We are both in prayer shawl ministry together and have hats that we wear to our semi-annual teas at church.

A picture of people waiting in the food line.  One of the fabulous restaurants catered the food.  They are known for their desserts!

Afterwards we took a group picture. We had a table of 6 from our church. Those pictures will be posted online on the library website in about 2 weeks. I'll get that and post it later.  These pictures were some I took with my iPhone.

I was trying to get a picture of the lady sitting at the table behind us. She had on purple and a purple hat.  Very pretty!  I was the only one in the blue - there were lots of black and red hats.

Here is the invitation.  Everything was free.  It is limited seating and now they have two "sittings" - we went to the first one today.  They even take your "portrait" after to show on a monitor at next year's tea.  I did have my portrait taken.  Those will also be up on the library website in a couple of weeks.  I'll try to get one and post it here.

February Update

We had our new sign installed in our office a week or so ago.  It's on the wall behind my desk and the light stays focused on it all the time (even at night).  We are still decorating.  We have several things on back order that haven't come in yet, but as soon as it's completed, I'll post some pictures of the finished office.

Just thought I'd point out to all my family the Cruella Deville streak I have going on in my hair.  I actually have two of them.  This one in the front usually doesn't show because of the way I part and wear my hair.  However, the one in the middle (which you can't see here) shows up better after my hair is fixed.  I have not colored  my hair in almost a year.  The girls and Joe almost had a fit when I told them that.  I don't care - I'm not vain as I was in my youth.  Yes, I want to look nice and 99% of the time I do. I just don't care if my hair is turning gray.  I will be 60, (yes, you read that right) in about a year and a half.  I have EARNED my gray hair.  A whole lot of my friends have been gray for quite some time.  And I quite enjoy going to get my hair cut and they say, "That will be $35."  Yeah. I can deal with that.  Usually with cut and color and with a tip, it's about $135.

I made Daddy this "pocket" prayer shawl and attached one of the crosses he gave me when I came home for Christmas about 5 years ago. I'm going to mail it to him so he can keep it with him and know that I am praying for him and thinking of him, even though I can't be there physically.

My Zumba Gold class at the YMCA celebrated Valentine's Day on Monday this week because we don't have Zumba on Thursdays.  Everyone tried to wear red (except the ones that weren't there the day they announced it).  Here are some of the women (and men) that I take Zumba with.  The class didn't seem to be as full this day as it usually is.

My Zumba instructor, Maria,  on the left of me and one of the friends I've made in class, Carol, on the right of me.  I think they are both about 5 years older than me (64).

We had a little bit of snow on Tuesday, but by the time I left to go home after work, it was all gone.

Looks like it's Valentine's Day at the Jondahl house.  There are my cards to Joe and to each girl, and Joe's cards to me and each girl (plus candy).

Our New Office

Jann and I moved into our new office on Saturday, January 21.  I will post finished pictures in a couple of weeks.  This is looking at our new kitchen area back by our private entrance.

Jann's new office.  She also purchased new office furniture for her office.

This is in our reception area looking toward our office front door.

Our conference room.

The open area beyond the kitchen.

Looking at where my desk will be in the reception area.

The movers broke my desk on one corner.  They fixed it though.  This corner is up against the wall so no one will ever notice anyway.
