Kaitlyn's Senior Prom

Here's one picture (which I had to purchase from Party Pics) from Kaitlyn's senior prom Saturday night. I had to work at Kohl's and Joe was skiing so we didn't get to go take pictures. Kaitlyn has a few on her camera which I'll have to beg her to give me a picture or two. One of the other moms took pictures but since it was really windy outside I don't know how well they turned out. Kaitlyn's dress was long and really pretty (it was Grecian-looking) and she wore gold gladiator sandals with it. And she was all tan from tanning for pom try-outs last weekend.

Can you hear the Twilight Zone music in the background? Today I got to work before Jann. When she walked in the door, SHE WAS WEARING THE SAME THING AS ME (both of our pants were gray, hers was a charcoal gray). It was so funny. I guess when you work with someone for over 5 years, you kind of start thinking alike. Anyway, we had fun with it and we asked one of the girls down the hall to take our picture for my blog. For those of you who don't know, Jann and I are the same age; she is 3 months older than me.

Earth Day

Today I rode my bicycle to work for Earth Day (the whole one mile). I was bad and didn't wear my helmet (gives me helmet hair!). I love my bike. Joe put a "tractor" gel seat (it's comfy) on it for my big butt when we bought it.

When I get to work, I just park it in the extra office space we have in our office, so I don't even have to leave it outside.

I'm lucky I can wear casual stuff to work since we rarely have clients in our office. All the business suits, panty hose and heels I wore to work for 30 years just hang rarely used in my closet. I occasionally wear them to church on Sundays!

Afternoon Tea

Today we had the semi-annual prayer shawl ministry tea. There were wonderful finger sandwiches and cookies to pick from and every kind of tea you could imagine.Here is a picture of Martha and I with our hats on. We were the only ones that wore hats. Last year more people wore them. I hot-glued the flower onto my hat about an hour before I left to go to the tea.

OKC Bombing Anniversary

Today is the 14th Anniversary of the OKC Murrah Building Bombing. These are some pictures I took last year when Joe and I walked right by the memorial (on the anniversary) during the American Heart Walk. Last year the day was a beautiful sunny day. This year during the walk, we didn't go right beside the memorial and it was cloudy and overcast. So enjoy the pictures from last year. This picture is entering the memorial.

This picture is looking through the memorial wall to the other side. The other side says 9:03, after the bomb had gone off. I love the reflecting pool.

Here's a close-up of the chairs. The bases light up at night and I think they light up on that person's birthday, or something like that.

The chairs are also lined up according to what floor they were on. There are also little chairs for the children that were killed in the daycare.

Kaitlyn didn't Make it....

Kaitlyn didn't make the pom squad at OU but she's okay with it. Dance is over and now she can get on with her life, as she says. She is looking forward to rush and going to football games without having to practice all the time. She gave it her best shot but they kept all of the veterans on there and added 4 new ones and one alternate.

Today's the BIG day!

The young man above is Patrick Conlen. He was Kristen's stand partner in the high school orchestra (this picture is from high school). He is a wonderful violinist and is studying music at the University of Oklahoma. Last night, Kristen invited me to go with her to see his Junior recital at the university for an elective music class she is taking. He was wonderful. I saw a couple of other parents in the audience that had children in the orchestra with he and Kristen in high school (but our children no longer play). I really loved hearing him play in high school and now he is even more enjoyable.

On to other news.... Today is the day for final try-outs for the OU pom squad. Kaitlyn is getting ready as we speak. I'll let everyone know this evening how that went.

Joe and I are walking in the American Heart Walk today through his company and Kristen is also walking with some of her sorority sisters as part of their philanthropic efforts. I may post some pictures later of the Oklahoma bombing memorial as tomorrow is the 14th anniversary of the bombing and we walk right by it on the walking route.
