Busy Weekend

This weekend was a busy weekend for us. Yesterday morning (VERY EARLY) Kaitlyn had to be at the university for her induction into Alpha Lambda Delta, the freshman honor society (min. 3.5 GPA, Kaitlyn has a 4.0). Kristen was also a member when she was a freshman. Kaitlyn ran for an officer and she is the Corresponding Secretary. Here is a picture of her walking back to her seat and her swearing in (she is standing behind the recording secretary). This was at 7:30 AM....

Next, we went to the sorority house. This weekend was Mom's Day weekend (formerly Parents Weekend)at the university, however, dads attend too. We had brunch, had some pictures taken (which I'll post later in the week), and I went to the parent's club meeting. I had also volunteered to make t-shirt quilts for the graduating seniors. Here are the three I made (someone else cut them out) and I'm also going to make Kristen's.

Last night the four of us went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, then afterwards the girls went out with friends. The Medieval Faire was this weekend and I missed it AGAIN because I sat around waiting on the girls, who say they want to go, then at the last minute blow me off to do something else. Next year I'm going by myself and not waiting to see if anyone wants to go with me. Today was a beautiful day to go but it's now 4:00 and I think it's over in an hour.

Couponing and Zumba

I decided to do some couponing the other day at the IGA store and this is what I got for $7.00 (including tax).

I got an iphone before I left on spring break and I found a really cool application. It's called Cardstar and it's great. For people like me who have tons of store loyalty cards that I carry around in my purse in a little zipper bag, I can enter the information into the cardstar app and now I can just look it up on my phone and the barcode shows in my window. You hand the phone to the cashier and they can scan the barcode (just like on the back of the card) and you're good to go. I tried it at CVS the other day and it worked, even with the privacy screen on my phone (which some people said the app wouldn't work if you had one). Anyway, check it out, it's a great app.

After returning from Colorado where I could hardly breathe, I decided I needed to start going back to the YMCA. I've been hearing about the Zumba classes so I thought I would check one out (Kaitlyn and her friend Lindsey go to them all the time.) I love to dance and I especially love latin music to dance to so I thought, what the heck? On Sunday, I attended the regular class (fast paced and for much younger people!!). I lasted 15 minutes. So I went back today to the Zumba Gold (for those seniors over 50). Unfortunately, there was a sub teacher who said she had never taught "goldens" before. She started out slow but then turned into a workout freak. Well, I lasted 30 minutes in that class (several ladies followed me out the door when I left early). I was surprised when there was probably about 50 ladies (and a few men) in the class. It's a popular class. About 10-15 of the ladies were all excited and put on their belly-dancing scarfs around their waists (the scarves that have the jingly coins on them) and were gyrating around to the latin music. I thought that was funny. They either forgot that belly-dancing was from the middle-east or I guess I'm confused about Zumba being a South American form of aerobic exercise.

Anyway, I will try it again on Friday when hopefully the normal instructor is there. She taught the senior classes I went to a couple of years ago and I like her and she does slow it down for us out of shape folks. I know I'll like it for the music if nothing else.

Spring Break in Winter Park, Colorado

For spring break this year, I decided to go with Joe to Winter Park, Colorado. Kristen went to Las Vegas with her senior friends, and Kaitlyn stayed home and worked, since she was the newest hire she couldn't get off. We stayed with Mark and Kathy Sewell (picture below) at their townhome. Very, very nice place with great views of the mountain. Mark is the brother of Randy who is married to Kay, my very good friend. This group of guys is what I called "The Doods" (Dads of only daughters). Mark and Kathy have 2 daughters a little older than Kristen that are both married. Joe and I of course have 2 daughers in college. Randy and Kay have two daughters, one in college and one a junior in HS. Monty and Michelle have 3 daughters, one a sophomore in college and the other two are 12 and 13.

These pictures are out of order! Here's an ice sculpture at the town shopping center.

Joe and Monty Cain. His wife Michelle was with their 3 girls at their condo.

Me and Joe.

A view of the slopes from Mark and Kathy's.

We all went to dinner every night together (with the kids). Monty had cut himself shaving one night and had a piece of paper on his chin. So we all decided to put a piece of paper on our chins too. We had the waiter take our picture.

We stopped in Bison Witches on the way home so we could eat dinner and drink some beer for St. Patty's Day. Guess who our waitress was?

Romy and Michelle....and Michael

Saturday night was the AOII date night. Party Pics was there and took these pictures. This picture is of Kaitlyn and her big sis, Andrea. Andrea is actually skinnier than Kaitlyn. Anyway, this picture looks like the one on the cover for the movie, "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion", which if you've never seen is very funny.

This one is Kaitlyn and Michael (as if you couldn't tell). I thought it was a very cute picture. It reminds me of "Barefoot in the Park".

AOII Date Party

Kaitlyn and Michael went to the AOII Date Party last night. Here's a picture I grabbed from Kaitlyn's facebook showing Kaitlyn, Andrea (Kaitlyn's "big sis") and I think the other girl is Gloriana. I think I see a little Bradford/Doyle in Kaitlyn sometimes. I can sort of see Nana back in her modeling days in Kaitlyn's pretty smile.

John Mayer Concert

Last night was the John Mayer concert. Joe and I went with 3 other couples to dinner first at the Paseo Grille in the Paseo Arts District of OKC. Very cool. I had heard of the Paseo Arts District but had never been there. It was a geat restaurant and awesome food. Since it was a technically a "date", I wore my sexy shoes, which proved to be my undoing when the night was over. I rode up with Kay, my best friend, along with her youngest daughter and a friend so Joe and I would only have 1 car up there. But Kay's parking garage is several BLOCKS away from the Ford Center arena. So we walked (after dinner) from the parking garage to the show. Then once in the arena, I had to go with Joe backstage to see some people and then we walked down to our seats. Jennifer (Joe's sister) and her friend were sitting in front of us and the rest of our group was sitting on the same row with us.

Kristen and Kaitlyn, with Lindsey (her BFF) were sitting on the 2nd row, center stage. What was really cool, was SEVERAL times, they were projected up onto the big screen behind John Mayer. That was so cool!

After the concert, all of our group (the adults) walked next door to have a drink at the Marriott courtyard. Then, we had to walk over to Joe's car (across the street in the parking garage). My feet hurt sooo bad. I had removed the stickers from the inside of my shoes before wearing them but they were still "sticky". Anyway, it rubbed a blister on the BOTTOM of both of my feet. I can barely walk today! Serves me right trying to look sexy for my date with Joe!

This morning, I actually slept late (9:30 AM) woo hoo! Joe and I went to the OU game (11:00) for a half, then left and went to Bison Witches Bar & Grill where our really cute waitress (Kaitlyn) waited on us for lunch. So we tipped her good. On the way out, we talked to some parents of a girl Kaitlyn used to play club soccer with who were in there (Kaitlyn was their waitress too) having lunch. They were amazed at Kaitlyn. They had not seen her in 3-4 years and raved on and on about how beautiful and tall she had become. They just remember her being the smallest and skinniest girl on the team. I feel so blessed that I have beautiful daughters and I'm so proud of them! (Can ya tell???)

Blocks 3 and 4

Here are blocks 3 and 4 we made tonight. Now I have to cut out the sashing and the backing.

Rock & Roll!!!!!!!

Whenever Joe works a concert, the arena gives an engraved belt buckle or spur sculpture to the artist(s) commemorating their concert in Oklahoma City. Here is the presentation to AC/DC. Joe is on the back row, far right.
