A little project

I decided that I might want to take my old (and by that I mean 25+ years old) "laying out" chair to the beach when I go. I cleaned the cobwebs off of it (I only pull it out to use for garage sales - as a FLAT SURFACE) and tried to clean up some of the rust. Instead, I decided to make a cover for it. I bought some terry cloth, some cute turquoise polka dot ribbon and made a cover. Now hopefully the wind won't blow the "towel" off my chair when I'm not sitting on it. Took me about 2 hours from start to finish.

Graduation Day

Today was the big day. Here's a picture of Kaitlyn before she ran out to go to graduation.
She was on the front row because she had a 4.0 all the way thru high school so she got to graduate in the first group. Here she is turning the corner to have her picture made before she walks up to receive her diploma.
Video of the last moment when they throw their hats into the air and the balloons drop.

We went to lunch at B.J.'s Brewhouse, the sun was in the girl's faces and it was breezy.

Final Shawl Update

Crystal, here's your shawl. I've given it to Nana to bring to you. This one is thinner and longer than other ones I've made. Just to make it fun, you'll need to post a picture of yourself wearing it on your blog.
Here's a picture of Bobo, Nana, and Kaitlyn this morning before Kaitlyn left to go to the Senior Picnic.
Joe, Nana, and Bobo are going to play golf this afternoon at OU's Jimmie Austin Golf Course. I work at Kohl's tonight but am off the rest of the weekend. Will post more pictures after graduation tomorrow.

The Final Final Last Performance

Last night was the "final" farewell for the girls on this year's pom squad. They had a spring show for the parents where the outgoing squads performed, the incoming squads performed, the girls that performed at Nationals did their routine one last time and then the seniors did a last routine together. Kaitlyn and her BFF Lindsey choreographed this routine to P.Y.T. by Michael Jackson. Sorry for the wobbly video, we're sitting up high in the gym and they move around quick, so zooming in/out is usually not possible with a camera (we quit taking the videocamera).

I don't know who choreographed this senior routine to So Long, Farewell from the Sound of Music but it's cute and if you know the seniors it fits them perfect. They all love the Sound of Music. Five of the original seven seniors tried out for collegiate pom but only one made it at the University of Tulsa. Of the five that are left, only one will probably continue on through musical theatre, the rest will most likely never dance again. Sad, I know.....

Tornado Time

Last night, Joe called me from San Diego (he's out there for a conference and some golf!) to check in. I had one eye on the TV (severe storms/tornado warmings) while I was talking to him. Kaitlyn came running into the bedroom to tell me that the tornado sirens were going off. If you know Joe, you know he loves to talk on the telephone. I finally had to tell him to shut up because I needed to get in the closet - and eventually I had to hang up on him. He called back on Kaitlyn's cell phone; she was in the closet with me, and goes nowhere without that phone attached to her hand. We were lucky - we live on the west side of Norman and the "lowering" was on the east side, but all the sirens go off no matter where you live. No damage, just another night in tornado alley!

Mother's Day

I had a very nice mother's day. The family took me out to eat at Tarahumara's (mexican restaurant) for dinner and I got a new flag pole to hang outside with a new OU flag. I also got a "deluxe" (which means some extras along with a glass of wine) manicure/pedicure at my favorite nail shop and a bottle of Heavenly Bloom mist from Victoria's Secret. Yesterday, I posted my junior and senior picture from high school on my Facebook and someone said I looked like Kaitlyn, here's a picture of me, Kristen, and Kaitlyn. You decide.

Good Morning Monroe!

Today Monroe Elementary invited the 2009 Seniors that attended there to a reception in their honor. Most of the class came. They get to sit on risers at the front of the gym for the Friday morning assembly, "Good Morning Monroe." This sign was up on a video screen...

We watched a video very similar to their 5th grade graduation video (that shows them from kindergarten to 5th grade). Most of the pictures were used in the previous video from pictures that parents had submitted and it was put to music. Then they passed a microphone around and the seniors gave their name and their favorite memory from elementary school. Kaitlyn's was "Fifties Day." Then at the end of the assembly, the 5th graders and the seniors have a dodgeball tournament. Here's a clip from some of the dodgeball. Kaitlyn runs up and then back (long legs and flying blonde hair). I remember Kristen's group doing this too.

Here's a picture of some of the girls from my girl scout troop in the 4th grade for a Halloween party our troop had. Kaitlyn (with the crown), Shelby, and Rainey are in the middle. Actually all of these girls are in the big group picture below.

Here is Kaitlyn and Rainey on the last day of 5th grade at Monroe with their 5th grade t-shirts on.
Here's Kaitlyn and Rainey as freshman in high school (notice the braces). Kaitlyn was on cheer and Rainey was on pom. And, Kaitlyn and Rainey this morning. I think Rainey cried during the whole thing. Rainey even wore one of her saved Monroe t-shirts.

Here's a picture of Kaitlyn and Shelby from middle school cheer.

And this morning....

Here's a picture of all the seniors that came today, Kaitlyn is in the middle behind the girl in the bright yellow shirt.

It was a very nostalgic morning. This afternoon Kaitlyn had her senior pictures made. All of the outside ones were shot on the University of Oklahoma campus. Some were in one of the rose gardens, some around the library posing by fountains, trees, etc. A lady photographer took her pictures and said Kaitlyn was very photogenic. I can't wait to see them.

Another Shawl Update

I'm starting my last skein of yarn. I'm estimating I'll be finished by the time Nana and Bobo get here for Kaitlyn's graduation. I'll send it back with them to bring to you, Crystal. Of course, they never need an excuse to come and see their great-grandchildren.

New Prom Pictures

Here's some pictures Lindsey's (pink dress) mom gave me that she took before prom. Here's the girls in Kaitlyn's group. All except the girl in the middle in back are on pom with Kaitlyn.
Here are Matt, Kaitlyn, Lindsey and Tyler.
Kaitlyn and Matt.
Kaitlyn and her BFF Lindsey clowning around. All these pictures were taken on OU Campus. That's where the prom was held (in the student union).

Flashback Friday

The embellishments on this skating dress are on the red prom dress below that Kaitlyn is wearing.

While I was looking for the picture above, I found this picture of us at Crested Butte, CO several years ago. We all were skating outside at Christmas and it was VERY COLD!!!
